    Galadriel All Shall Love Me

I'm sat here watching The fellowship of the ring again, and i'm confused by Galadriel. She is so fucking weird and i cant even tell if she's good or bad. I mean im pretty sure she's good, since she helps them and all, but then she has that fucking weird moment where she goes all crazy and yells at Frodo. Im guessing she yells because of the ring and all, but still she seems so fucking weird to me. I dont really understand (i probally didnt pay proper attention), but why is she so strong? All i really seemed to catch from the movie was that she was some special elf sitting in the woods with some dank power.

    All

The crazy moment was PJ's depiction of the scene where Galadriel is offered the Ring by Frodo. He blew it way the hell out of proportion from what was described in the book. Her father was Finarfin, who was the son of Finwe, the first High King of the Noldor.

She was born before the years of the First Age, in what's called the Years of the Trees. She's the most powerful single 'person' who doesn't have a divine origin in Middle Earth, and she wears Nenya, one of the 3 Elven rings of power. She was also born with the ability to see into the minds of others. There's a description of her somewhere that says except for Feanor (the guy who made the Silmarils) she was the most powerful Noldor ever.TLDR: 7000 year old elf princess that can read minds and has some seriously bad ass magic.

(Disclaimer: Age count is not accurate. She's actually much older than that, but the years weren't being counted). He blew it way the hell out of proportion from what was described in the book.To expand on this, here's the scene from the book:‘You are wise and fearless and fair, Lady Galadriel,’ said Frodo. ‘I will give you the One Ring, if you ask for it. It is too great a matter for me.’Galadriel laughed with a sudden clear laugh.

Galadriel quotes. I amar prestar aen. The world is changed. Han mathon ne nen. I feel it in the water. Han mathon ne chae. Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair! The quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains. Galadriel: 'Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea!' Frodo backs away in fright. Galadriel: 'Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me, and despair!' The great murky light fades and Galadriel lets her arms slowly fall, her transformed image disappearing. Breathing heavily, she speaks to. : Does anyone know where the phrase 'All shall love me and despair' ORIGINALLY come from? I've seen it in many different contexts, and in recent years it's been all over the Internet because of the Lord of the Rings, but where is it from originally? It's from the original trilogy itself. 'And now at last it comes. You will give me the Ring freely!

‘Wise the Lady Galadriel may be,’ she said, ‘yet here she has met her match in courtesy. Gently are you revenged for my testing of your heart at our first meeting. You begin to see with a keen eye. I do not deny that my heart has greatly desired to ask what you offer.

For many long years I had pondered what I might do, should the Great Ring come into my hands, and behold! It was brought within my grasp. The evil that was devised long ago works on in many ways, whether Sauron himself stands or falls. Would not that have been a noble deed to set to the credit of his Ring, if I had taken it by force or fear from my guest?‘And now at last it comes. You will give me the Ring freely! In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen.

And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair!’She lifted up her hand and from the ring that she wore there issued a great light that illumined her alone and left all else dark. She stood before Frodo seeming now tall beyond measurement, and beautiful beyond enduring, terrible and worshipful. Then she let her hand fall, and the light faded, and suddenly she laughed again, and lo!

She was shrunken: a slender elf-woman, clad in simple white, whose gentle voice was soft and sad.‘I pass the test,’ she said. ‘I will diminish, and go into the West, and remain Galadriel.’They stood for a long while in silence. At length the Lady spoke again. ‘Let us return!’ she said. ‘In the morning you must depart, for now we have chosen, and the tides of fate are flowing.’.
