Most Accurate Loads For Steyr Ssg69 .308 Win.카테고리 없음 2020. 1. 23. 16:48
Re: Steyr Match 308 Info??I have the same rifle and at the moment I am working through some problems. Purchase mine used. Barrel and chamber are in good condition.
The stock mount is a poor design. The trigger guard/magwell is a moulded one piece plastic. The action bolts pass through the trigger guard/magwell, then through the stock and thread into the action.
The problem is the plastic bolt holes in plastic piece do not hold up. They crack and you then do not have a consistent mounting platform for the action, thus making it difficult to group consistantly.
The Steyr SSG action is fairly long and thick and this was done to strengthen and stiffen the action to help improved accuracy. The forward part of the action is longer than most others as the barrel is seated much deeper into the action than a typical modern bolt action rifle.
I am considering a new macmillan stock or attempt bedding the action myself after I find a replacement trigger guard/magwell. Hopefully the new one is no longer made from plastic. My rifle was sold as an 'SSG Match'. I have not been able to confirm that the action/barrel is the same as their ssg69 model. There is not much info out there about these rifles. I would imagine that yours being nfired will shoot very well.
Keep you eye on the trigger guard/magwell as you put some round through it.I am going to try to locate a replacement part for my rifle tomorrow. I will let you know if they have an improved updated part for this problem area. Re: Steyr Match 308 Info??I had one of those many years ago. Very accurate rifle. All parts are identical to the SSG69 except a much more rigid action. The target rifle has a match chamber as opposed to the SSG69 who has a mud-friendly combat chamber. You can drop the targetrifle straight into a McMillan SSG stock. They were testfired at the factory before shipping and each rifle had to shoot a 10 shot group inside 7.5cm@300m (3'@330yds) in the first try.
The testtarget on mine had a 4cm 10 shot group(@300m). I can see from the pictures that your rifle has a 200m test target.I liked it. It was a very effective competition tool. After this Steyr made a rifle called the UIT who had the SSG Target action, a proper 2-stage match trigger and, most important of all, doublestack 10-round steel mags. Re: Steyr Match 308 Info??Thanks for all the replies guys. Emouse PM'd me earlier and this is what he had to say about the bottom metal that were going to be made.By Emouse:Hi,The bottom metal was an idea that I commissioned a manufacturer in Aaustria to produce. I supplied the clients, managed all the correspondence and even offered to purchase design and production rights outright. The manufacturer has been evasive, declined my offer and has attempted to do his own thing with the client base I supplied.
I guess I got screwed. Re: Steyr Match 308 Info??Originally Posted By: JmileraOgonzalez13 where did you buy the steyr I have been looking locally but haven't been able to find any. You can still purchase the Steyr SSG 69 in different variations, I have seen several for sell on Auction Websites. You could probably contact Steyr USA and get a lsit of dealers in your area or at least her in the states that can ship one to your local FFL.Follow this link. Re: Steyr Match 308 Info??Hey O,How goes it? I finally got my money back from the Post Office! So sorry about that whole mess!Anyway, I've owned 2 Steyr Match SSG's. The first looked a lot like yours except mine had a Brown Plastic stock.
The second was the rare bird. It was a PIII Match and was factory fitted in an HS Precision stock.
You probably won't ever see another. They are extremely accurate with Match ammo in 168gr. Or M118 Lake City Match ammo. The throat on SSG's is extremely long so don't try to get close to the lands. There's no need.
Just load to factory spec as far as C.O.A.L. The trigger guards and mags are fairly fragile and do break easily. The 10 round mag will run you $200+ if you can find one. They make scope rings specifically for it in 1', 26mm, and 30mm.
I think you can also get a picatinney rail for it but I'm not sure because I never really researched it thoroughly.Enjoy that Bad Boy! It should be impressively accurate.John. Thanks for the interest.
VHi,To echo the previous comments, I have had no ejection or extraction issues in over 600 rounds of 308 on my SSG 04 (non A1) with Federal GMM 168 gr rounds. However, the rifle did have the same ejection issues you noted with 155 gr Prvi Partizan. Basically the gun hated the ammo 🙂 to the point that it was almost unusable with every second or third round being an FTE. My SCAR 17s has no issues with the Prvi, but this rifle appears to be particular in the ammo it likes. Federal GMM does produce.
Deputy276Be advised, the Steyr website says the SSG 04 comes with a hard plastic case and Harris bipod. They USED TO.
Not any more. I just bought one and called Steyr up because both were missing.

They now come in a brown cardboard box and NO BIPOD. Only “extra” was sling swivels. A very dumb move by Steyr in my opinion. The person I talked to said it was done to hold the price down. When you are paying over 2 grand for a rifle, a plastic case and a Harris bipod are peanuts in extra cost. And they save the buyer having to go out and buy those items. Dumb move IMO.
Otherwise, the gun is great.I’ll give a range report on ejection/extraction once I get a scope, rings, and ammo for it. Specs. Manufacturer: Steyr Mannlicher. Model: SSG-04.
